About Us

Founder of Speakeasy BJJ, Professor Colton has been a life long martial artist. Having started Tae Kwon Do and wrestling in pre school, it would be years later when he found his true passion, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Having competed through all belt levels, Professor Colton has a wrestling focused style, but is also skilled in the traditional Gi style. Being awarded his Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu from Professor Kurt Chase Patrick, Professor Colton aims to grow BJJ in a progressive manner, while also preserving traditional practices.

Professor Aaron is a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, and a dedicated Martial Artist.  He brings enthusiasm, encouragement, and over ten years of experience as a coach and ACSM-certified personal trainer to every training session.  He also holds a Purple Belt in 10th Planet Jiu-jitsu, a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, and numerous grappling tournament Gold medals.

Adam was awarded his black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu by Tim Burrill, one of Carlos Machado’s first American black belts. He also holds a brown belt in Judo under third degree black belt Jeff Tipton at the Asheville Judo Club. His style focuses heavily on leg locks, open guard and pressure passing. Prior to moving to Asheville, he trained at Unity Jiu-Jitsu for three years. Outside of Jiu-Jitsu, Adam works as an in-house graphic designer for a digital marketing firm.
